Video calls

A simple first video call.

Use the video-call app your family already has. You will need an internet connection, and your phone may ask to use its camera and microphone.

Before the call: Find a quiet place, charge your phone, and connect to Wi-Fi if it is available. Set the phone on a steady surface so you do not need to hold it.

FaceTime on iPhone

  1. Open the FaceTime app.
  2. Tap New FaceTime and enter or choose the person’s name or number.
  3. Tap the video-call button.

Join a call only when you expect it

If an unexpected caller asks you to install software, share a security code, or show your screen, end the call. Contact the person or company through a number you already know.
